There is growing recognition of the importance of looking after our skin - after all, it is the largest organ in the body! Despite some in the press recently claiming that there’s no need for skincare regimes and products, there are plenty of compelling reasons to take a bit of time to give your skin some TLC.
Writing for Allure, the publication’s editor Michelle Lee has highlighted some of the top reasons to stick with skincare.
She noted that skin care isn’t about trying to get the perfect, blemish-free skin, but to improve your complexion and simply make it better. With much better awareness of the damage the sun can cause our skin, as well as growing knowledge about the impact pollution is having too, there’s never been a better time to focus on taking care of your skin.
Ms Lee added that, aside from these benefits, it is “a form of self-care”. This is an area that many of us are trying to get better at - taking time out from our busy schedules to indulge in some me time.
She revealed that she “loves” using a sheet mask on a Sunday afternoon. “It’s a two-dollar- 20-minute spa in a peel-open packet that lets me lie back and soak it all in, literally and figuratively,” Ms Lee commented.
If you want to give your skin a bit more of a lift, you could book a HIFU facial to truly rejuvenate your skin and bring back its natural glow.
Anyone living in an urban area may find that air pollution has a particularly bad effect on the condition of their skin. An article for CNN recently noted that this can cause flare ups of psoriasis, eczema and acne, as well as lead to skin cancer, so it pays to help your skin’s natural protective barrier stay strong and healthy.
